Notably, it was associated with former Chilean Presidents Federico Err\u00e1zuriz Za\u00f1artu and Federico Err\u00e1zuriz Echaurrren during the 19th century, who held cabinet meetings in the valley, leaving behind historic brick bridges. In 1916, the Hurtado family acquired the vineyard, and in 1926-1927, Engineer Ignacio Hurtado built the first winemaking and storage cellar.<\/p>\n<p>This winery, still in operation, marked the beginning of high-end wine production. In 2002, the Hurtado family initiated the construction of a modern, sustainable winery to bring out the best in Colchagua Valley&#8217;s grape varieties. Vi\u00f1a Maquis continues to prioritize an artisanal and manual approach to winemaking, allowing the grapes to shine with minimal intervention and the expertise of the Vi\u00f1a Maquis team.
